The purpose of Educational Development is to emphasize scholastic achievement and higher academic development, promote service learning, foster college preparation and planning, and continue educating the Shelby Alumnae Community. Our chapter features Youth Programs and Grow with Google as part of our Educational Development Programmatic Thrust.

Delta Sigma Theta has three national youth enrichment programs designed to promote the development of young girls and boys. These include, but are not limited to, Delta GEMS, Delta Academy and EMBODI (collectively "youth initiatives"). Currently, Shelby Alumnae works with girls in middle and high school through the Delta Gems and Delta Academy programs.
